As part of their Spring/Summer 2020 collection, Dior have released an interesting take on their famous Book tote – the all-new Catherine tote. Designed by Creative Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, the Catherine tote bag fits in well with the botanical theme of the collection due to the eight pockets on the exterior of the bag.
Yep, you’ve read that correctly – the Dior Catherine tote features eight exterior pockets. This is due to the fact that the design mimics that of what is known as a garden tool tote.
Currently available in one version, the Dior Catherine Tote, which is made from canvas, is embroidered with the fashion-house’s Dior oblique pattern in blue. It also features the Christian Dior signature on the front of the bag.
It measures at 40 cm x 31 cm x 19 cm, making it just a tad smaller than the Dior Book tote which is 41.5 cm x 35 cm x 18 cm.
Like most tote bags, the Catherine tote is definitely an everyday bag which is ideal for carrying your stuff around. One negative about the design of this bag is the fact that there are no pockets on the interior and there is also no way to close the bag, making the bag lack in security which is already lacking in tote bags in general.
The Catherine tote bag retails at US$3,600, which may be seen as a pretty steep price tag for a canvas tote bag. That being said, this is a pretty standard price for a Christian Dior handbag.
