Since their comeback a couple of years ago, backpacks have become more of a wardrobe stable rather than a temporary fashion trend. They are ideal for carrying around a lot of stuff and are a great alternative to totes. Most luxury fashion designers have added a number of backpacks to their collection, and Louis Vuitton has been no exception to that.
In 2007, they brought back their iconic LV Monogram Montsouris Backpack which was originally released in 1994. The 2007 version was pretty similar to the original in terms of shape and size. This season, the French fashion house have decided to bring back the same iconic backpack in embossed cowhide leather. The backpack’s single-toned body is livened up with a vintage-style golden buckle and a removable LV charm.
Currently only available in one size – 27.5 x 33 x 14 cm, the Montsouris Backpack has two adjustable straps which make it comfortable for carriers of any shape or size. Like all previous versions of this LV backpack, the 2020 version comes with a zipped outside pocket for easy access to daily essentials.
The 2020 Montsouris backpack is available in three colours – noir electric (black), tourterelle (beige) and crème (off-white). It has only just been released by Louis Vuitton in an exclusive pre-launch, so we have yet to find out whether it will be released in the iconic monogram print, or in other materials, colours and sizes.
Even though this leather cowhide version is probably not as durable as the canvas one, we are really loving the look of the newly reinterpreted LV Montsouris backpack. It has a more subtle feel to it and is a great alternative for anyone who is not a fan of the LV monogram canvas look or is simply looking to add some diversity to their LV bag collection.
