The Hot Shot bag by Marc Jacobs caught my eye while I was browsing through the New Arrivals section of one of my favourite online retailers earlier this week. It seems to be a slightly smaller and vertical version of the popular Snapshot bag.
Some digging around on the internet showed me that the Hot Shot has actually been around since 2017, but there is actually not much content about it online. Despite the lack of press, the bag forms part of Marc Jacob’s Shot bag family and is definitely part of the permanent collection, with new colours making it to the new collection just this season.
Featuring the signature double-J Marc Jacobs logo on the front and a zip-around closure, the leather Hot Shot bag makes quite the fashion statement with its vertical shape. It comes with a removable crossbody chain strap which also makes the bag convertible into a clutch or a pouch which can be carried inside a bigger bag. It is perfectly sized for carrying just the essentials and is made up of one internal compartment with no extra pockets.
The Hot Shot bag is available in one size and measures at 10 cm (L) x 5 cm (D) 17 cm (H), with a strap drop of 61 cm. It is slightly smaller than the Marc Jacobs Snapshot bag and also has a much thinner strap. For comparison purposes, the Snapshot bag is 18 cm (L) x 6 cm (D) x 11 cm (H) and has a drop drop of 68 cm.
Decently priced at €330 / £300 / $295, the Hot Shot bag is available directly via Marc Jacobs or via one of the following retailers:
Overall, the Marc Jacobs Hot Shot bag is a good mid-range designer bag which definitely deserves some more appreciation. It is great for carrying all the essentials, is on-trend and is also a good, less common alternative to the Snapshot bag.
