The Pouch

Bottega Veneta’s “The Pouch” is one of the best sellers from the Italian fashion house. It was designed by creative director Daniel Lee as one of his first releases when joining the brand in July 2018.

The Pouch was definitely one of 2019’s greatest “it” bags, with it being in high demand and constantly selling out. Mid-way through 2020, it is still their most popular bag and it’s classic yet sophisticated style makes me think that it will become a staple for Bottega Veneta, rather than a short-term fad.

The Pouch is simply that – a pouch bag with no pockets, straps or handles (though the mini pouch does come with straps). Despite the classic design, the bag has an intriguing rebellious feel to it. I say this because The Pouch has no branding on the exterior whatsoever. No metal logos, tags or imprinted branding anywhere.

On the inside, the bag is made up of one compartment and has a magnetic frame beneath the leather, which is used to open and close the bag.

It is worth noting that The Pouch is probably not ideal as an everyday bag due to the fact that it is a clutch bag. Though the original size does hold a lot of items.

The Pouch Materials and Colours

The most popular version of The Pouch is definitely the classic smooth leather version which is made out of calfskin leather. However, the bag is also available in other materials including python skin, leather crochet knit and woven leather.

All materials are available in a wide range of colours, from a good selection of neutrals to bolder shades.

The Pouch Sizes and Dimensions

The classic version of The Pouch comes in two sizes – the ‘standard’ size and the mini size. The standard size measures at 18 cm x 38 cm x 18 cm while the mini (also referred to as The Pouch 20) measures at 13 cm x 20 cm x 5 cm.

The Pouch Price

Depending on the material, the price of The Pouch ranges from €1,980 to €2,400. There is also a rather pricey crochet knit version which is priced at €6,500. This is probably due to the fact that each piece is handwoven from Nappa leather and has a unique finish as a result.

The price of The Mini Pouch (aka The Pouch 20) ranges between €1,050 and €1,700.

Other Styles in The Bottega Veneta The Pouch Collection

Following the popularity of the classic version of The Pouch, Bottega Veneta have extended the collection to include other bags to the collection which include The Chain Pouch, The Shoulder Pouch and also The Coin Purse.
